Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask

Good Afternoon!

It has been an extremely long time since I last posted a blog post, life has been very hectic recently! I know a few of you have been messaging me asking for more blog posts – therefore I will definitely try to do more. I have several products I have tried and tested for you guys. Today I will begin with, The Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask.

Believe it or not but I have never tried a face mask! I have sensitive skin therefore I have always been scared to try something new on my face and especially a face mask you have to leave on your skin for a while, but I thought I will give it a go. As I have sensitive skin, I did not want to immediately purchase the full size tube, Lush kindly provide samples with a lot of their products.

Lush sell several types of face masks, I was particularly interested in their fresh masks as it sounds more natural. I decided on the Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask – as this one is more targeted for sensitive skin. The full size product costs £7.50

Lush have stated the BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask is “A calming fresh face mask with fresh seaweed, ground almonds, rose absolute and aloe vera to soothe and soften the skin. We also use rosemary oil for its regenerative qualities, kaolin to remove any excess dirt or oil, and millet flakes to gently exfoliate away dead skin as you scrub it off. To use, smooth a generous layer of this mask onto your face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes.”

Sounds good huh? a fresh mask containing a lot of beneficial natural products to help hydrate your face!

You need to put this mask in to the fridge as soon as you purchase it, I think it only lasts around 4-5 hours if not refrigerated, after this the mask lasts up to 4 weeks.

Prep – I took my make up off and exfoliated my face in a hot shower to open my pores before I applied this face mask.

Opening the tub – the mask smells fresh and smells kind of “oceany” perhaps due to the seaweed but not over over powering, it is pretty thick in texture with little bits of seaweed chunks in there, but not to thick that you cant spread the mask on evenly.

As I had a sample tub, I could not apply a super generous amount, however I did manage to cover a full face out of such a small tub, which is very decent! It shows a little goes a long way. I left the mask on for 15 minutes as instructed. While the mask was on it felt nice and fresh, perhaps due to the fact it came out the fridge! Even though I could see the mask drying, this did not make my face feel uncomfortable and tight.

I then washed this off with warm water, as I rinsed this off, I gently rubbed the mask off in circular motions to allow the seaweed and millet flakes to exfoliate my skin. After this I made sure I rinsed my face with cold water and I especially concentrated on my pore prone areas – the cold water will allow to close your pores.

Results – My skin felt so soft! Now that it is winter my face is more on the dry side, and my face felt hydrated and fresh – I did not have to apply as much moisturiser as I usually do. The mask did not irritate my sensitive skin nor did the mask make my acne prone skin worse – in fact it contributed on making a couple of spots reduce in size by the next morning. It also helped blur out my pore prone areas and helped my t-zone area look less oily.

As you can see it helped my very complex-acne-sensitive-dry-combo-pore-prone face (wow that is a mouth full). I would deffo recommend this face mask – I think It will be suited for all skin types! I would purchase this face mask again.

BTW – It has been a lovely cosy Sunday ! I woke up to snow! YAY! Now in London it does not always snow in the winter and it has not snowed in December in many years now – how exciting for us Londoners!! 😀

Happy Sunday, Thank you for reading

L’Oreal Micellar Water Review

As we all love applying and wearing our makeup, we also need to love to take our make up off to protect our skin from clogging (well at least try to!) . In fact, I love taking my make up off now due to L’Oreal’s new skin perfection micellar water!! This has turned into my HG make up remover!! .

My skin is extremely sensitive, I have eczema at certain places yet also have an oily t-zone therefore if you haven’t figured out already my skin is all over the place. This product is hypoallergenic, and does not contain alcohol nor perfume, therefore it does not irritate my skin at all, it literally feels like ‘water’!!

I simply pour out some of this product on to a cotton pad (be careful when you pour this out as a lot can come out at once). Then I gently wipe this around my face and all traces of my make up is off. I sometimes hold the cotton pad on some areas for a few seconds e.g. on lips and lashes. Results- It literally soothes my skin, face feels soft and no tightness or residue is left be hide. In regards to removing eye make up, yes it does work but not as well as my simple eye remover as this takes that little more time.

Now lets put this to the test:

I have swiped this lipstick on my arm twice.

I hold the cotton pad on my lipstick swatch for a few seconds and then gently wipe it.

As you can see my lipstick has vanished! 😀

It removed my lipstick so effortlessly, no rubbing just a gentle swipe! great stuff eh!

I have purchased this product from Superdrug, at the moment it is on sale for £3.33

Overal Verdict: I highly recommend this micellar water, I would re purchase this product as it removes all my make up, does not irritate my skin, no harsh chemicals, makes my skin feel soft and squeeqy clean. For those who hate removing there make up or washing there face after a night out you could simply just use this micellar water while your in bed and head straight to sleep as it states no need to rinse!! Even though its still best to cleanse properly, but there are times when we all have a bit too many and cant make it to the bathroom 😛 !!

B.Glowing Shimmer Block review

So the sun is back out in England. In the summer I much prefer the glowy dewy look. I was searching everywhere in The Body Shop, Boots and Superdrug for a budget blusher that had a nice gold shimmer to it. However most that did appear to have gold in them, when tested on my cheeks the gold shimmers were no longer visible. I just wanted a natural healthy glow to my cheeks. I then stumbled upon B. Glowing shimmer block in shade 161 Just Peachy and it gave me my healthy natural golden glow :D. I had purchased this for £7.99 from Superdrug. Click here to purchase.

The packaging is a dark grey plastic round small tub, with a clear plastic top with the logo. Very basic and straight to the point, nothing special about it. Especially as these days blushers tend to come with a brush and/or a mirror inside.

Each strip colour

Each strip colour

Brush swirled around all colours

Brush swirled around all colours

The colours are a mixture of peach, pink, coral and gold. This automatically makes me think of summer and is just a beautiful combination. You can either use each strip on its own or swirl your brush around and use all the colours, I prefer this!

As you can see in the photo, it gives this lovely glow, it is not overly pigmented but I prefer the more natural subtle look. If I do want a bit more colour I simply use this on top of another blush. Some may prefer using this as a highlighter. The gold shimmer/sheen is just the right amount too. The staying power is fairly good, lasts all day for me. However if I do end up touching my face a lot it does seem to fade off quickly.

The only negative point I have to raise is that the blush is very ‘powdery’, the powder is quite loose and because of this, even for a natural look I still need to apply it two or three times. However the end results are fab and worth that little extra application!

In case your wondering, in the photo i am wearing a lovely bronzey/peachy/golden shimmer type of lipstick, it matches very well with this blusher. It is Rimmel moisture renew lipstick in shade 650. I have done a review on this previously, please click here for more details.

overall verdict: I am loving this blush for the summer and highly recommend it to anyone.

Also at the moment, B is giving out free gifts when you spend over £5 of there products!! 😀 These are miniature sample versions. I was very excited to check these out, who can say no to free make up gifts?!

What is included in the gift box are:

B.Stunning vibrant Eye Shimmer – Copper

B. Rich Intense Colour Lipstick – shade eton mess.

B.Radiant Rejuvenating Serum.

B. Active Day Cream SPF 15

B. Pure Micellar Water.

This will just be a quick review to high light what I liked and disliked.

I love love love this eye shadow! A lovely copper bronze colour, it is a cream eye shadow with a slight gold shimmer paired up with my new blusher and Rimmel lipstick in shade 650, it just gave a full glow look to my whole  face. It also looks very natural as you can see below.

Me wearing the eye shadow.

Me wearing the eye shadow.

I actually already have this lipstick colour and worn it plenty of times. It is a nice natural pink colour that will go with most fair to medium skin tones.

Something that is new to me is the Pure Micellar Water. I had googled this product and saw that Micellar waters are actually a big thing at the moment. It is supposed to remove make up effortlessly without harming your skin! I had tried this and the claims are true, my face did not react to the product nor did I feel any tightness, however there was a slight residue left on my face. I have heard the L’oreal Micellar water is even better as it does not leave any residue therefore that one will be on my bucket list!

I was not impressed by the active day cream it was not moisturising enough and I could not really tell if the radiant rejuvenating serum worked and it had irritated my skin a little.

Winter Skincare

The chilly months have arrived! This cold weather tends to take a toll on my skin. Making both my skin and lips drier. I have been using a few products lately that I can highly recommend for dry winter skin.

Eucerin Aquaphor – Healing Ointment.

photo 1

Aquaphor is a great product to use for chapped lips, a little goes a long way. I have been using Aquaphour for 10 months so far and still have product left in this tube I am guessing it will last another 3 months. The reason that this last’s so long is because I don’t need to use a lot of this product, I only need to apply this three times a day morning, after lunch and evening. I can feel my lips are moisturised unlike Vaseline where I find my self constantly applying it every 30mins as they constantly get dry again.

photo 3(1)

What makes this product amazing is that you can use this for animal bites, cuts and serious burns due to the fact it is a skin protectant ointment which helps heal your skin.

Aquaphour comes in a generous 40ml size tube which can be purchased at Boots for £6.37. Please click here.

Cetaphill – Moisturising Cream

photo 1(1)

I absolutely love this cream! It does wonders for my dry sensitive skin. My face is extremely sensitive and has reactions with creams that have fragrances/alcohol. Cetaphil is fragrance free and non-comedogenic which helps not to block your pours. After massaging a small amount on to my face, my face feels soft and re-freshened. I apply this twice a day morning and night.

Purchased a 100g tube from Boots for £10.09. Please click here.

Dr Organic – Organic Vitamin E Pure Oil.

photo 4

I have just recently brought this product. I had originally brought this oil for scars, as I have heard vitamin e oils are great for fading scars away. I can not comment if this has worked yet but will do an update in a few months for you guys. However, what I can say is that it has helped made my skin tone become more even and is a great body moisturiser. Unlike other oils, this is not greasy and thanks to a small nozzle only a few drops can disperse at a time – without getting oil all over the place!

photo 2

Purchased a 50ml bottle from Holland and Barrett for £8.49. Please click here.

Verdict: I would highly recommend these products, they have worked well for me and I am now on my second tube of Cetaphil.

Johnson’s Baby Top-To-Toe Wash Review – “The Multi Purpose Wash”.

johnsons 1

When we think of Johnson’s products we automatically think it’s for babies?! Yes, you’re right; mothers do use Johnson’s on their babies. However this gentle wash is great for the whole family from the young to teenagers to adults. I have been using Johnson’s baby top-to-toe wash for over a year now – I love it! It is a multi purpose wash!!

It is a very gentle yet foamy formula which is great for sensitive skin, it also has the lovely traditional Johnson scent which I adore as it isn’t over powering. The ‘no more tears’ label means its gentle enough to use around your eyes without any burning sensations. The packaging has a pump which is easy and quick to use, however as it only comes in 500ml the weight can be a little strain when traveling.

johnsons 2

The multi purposes:

  •  Face Wash – This is my main purpose of this wash. I have trailed and error many washes prior to Johnsons. They were either to strong for my sensitive skin, caused more breakouts or too drying; all claiming they have secret formula’s to improve your skin! I became frustrated thinking that no wash suited my skin. I have acne prone skin as well as having eczema; my skin is a weird combination of oily to dry in various areas.  I then thought to try something with less harsh chemicals to prevent aggravating my troubled skin. This is when I stumbled across Johnson’s top to toe wash – If it is gentle enough for a baby’s skin surely it cant do any harm to mine?! My verdict was right and I am very happy using it as an everyday face wash. I usually use one or two pumps of this product and rub it gently on my face until it lathers, leaving it on my face for an extra 60 seconds to get a deep clean and then rinse of with warm water. My face feels refreshed and smooth and does not aggravate my sensitive skin.
  •  Make Up Cleanser – Top-To-Toe does a fantastic job with cleansing my make up brushes. It removes all traces of make up very easily. Leaving brushes soft and smelling nice.
  •  Shower Gel – This product can be used like any other shower gel, and is ideal for those with sensitive skin.
  •  Shampoo – As Top-To-Toe lathers up very well therefore it can easily be used as a shampoo, however it is probably is too mild for oily hair types but will do a decent job for normal hair types.

As you can see, Johnson’s Top-To-Toe Wash is a great multi purpose product. You can save time in the shower by using just one product to wash your hair, face and body (it’s literally a ‘top to toe’ wash 😛 ). Even though I mentioned above that it’s a heavy bottle for traveling this negative can become a positive as you may only need to pack just one bottle for the whole families needs. Also, you won’t believe how much money you will save with one bottle to serve several purposes for as cheap as £2.00!! 😀

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser.

As soon as I saw the Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser on the television advert, I just had to try it! The very next day I went down to my local Superdrug and purchased it, and great news it’s a 1/3 off, currently pricing at £2.36 for 250ml and £3.39 for 400ml. I brought the moisturiser for Dry skin in 400ml; there is also one for normal skin. Please click here to purchase.

The smell of this product is lovely – your typical Nivea smell and it contains almond oil which is a plus point for me! Let me begin with how to use this moisturiser, you are supposed to use this in the shower after you have used soap/shower gel, once you have rinsed this off you apply the Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser. The cream texture is a little thick; however the cream glides on my body smoothly and absorbs the cream very well. My skin is left soft… great ey? …. Well not great for long…. After a couple of hours my skin started to feel a little dry, still soft in some areas but felt slightly dry in some patches. The next day I tried using more of the product and this had done a better job, not great but decent. Therefore I think I will prefer using normal body cream after a shower, nevertheless this is great for the odd days when I am in a rush.

I was very excited to try this product, thinking I no longer need to moisturise after a shower! However my hopes had let me down. I think I would only consider purchasing again if it was on offer as it is good for lazy days. If you want to give this product a try, I would recommend getting the one for dry skin types, because even if you do not have dry skin, the cream is not very rich and would be suited for normal skin types too. I would NOT recommend this product for someone with severe dry skin/ eczema as this will probably not give you any sort of moisture.

Has anyone else felt a little let down with this product?
