Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask

Good Afternoon!

It has been an extremely long time since I last posted a blog post, life has been very hectic recently! I know a few of you have been messaging me asking for more blog posts – therefore I will definitely try to do more. I have several products I have tried and tested for you guys. Today I will begin with, The Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask.

Believe it or not but I have never tried a face mask! I have sensitive skin therefore I have always been scared to try something new on my face and especially a face mask you have to leave on your skin for a while, but I thought I will give it a go. As I have sensitive skin, I did not want to immediately purchase the full size tube, Lush kindly provide samples with a lot of their products.

Lush sell several types of face masks, I was particularly interested in their fresh masks as it sounds more natural. I decided on the Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask – as this one is more targeted for sensitive skin. The full size product costs £7.50

Lush have stated the BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask is “A calming fresh face mask with fresh seaweed, ground almonds, rose absolute and aloe vera to soothe and soften the skin. We also use rosemary oil for its regenerative qualities, kaolin to remove any excess dirt or oil, and millet flakes to gently exfoliate away dead skin as you scrub it off. To use, smooth a generous layer of this mask onto your face and leave for 10 to 15 minutes.”

Sounds good huh? a fresh mask containing a lot of beneficial natural products to help hydrate your face!

You need to put this mask in to the fridge as soon as you purchase it, I think it only lasts around 4-5 hours if not refrigerated, after this the mask lasts up to 4 weeks.

Prep – I took my make up off and exfoliated my face in a hot shower to open my pores before I applied this face mask.

Opening the tub – the mask smells fresh and smells kind of “oceany” perhaps due to the seaweed but not over over powering, it is pretty thick in texture with little bits of seaweed chunks in there, but not to thick that you cant spread the mask on evenly.

As I had a sample tub, I could not apply a super generous amount, however I did manage to cover a full face out of such a small tub, which is very decent! It shows a little goes a long way. I left the mask on for 15 minutes as instructed. While the mask was on it felt nice and fresh, perhaps due to the fact it came out the fridge! Even though I could see the mask drying, this did not make my face feel uncomfortable and tight.

I then washed this off with warm water, as I rinsed this off, I gently rubbed the mask off in circular motions to allow the seaweed and millet flakes to exfoliate my skin. After this I made sure I rinsed my face with cold water and I especially concentrated on my pore prone areas – the cold water will allow to close your pores.

Results – My skin felt so soft! Now that it is winter my face is more on the dry side, and my face felt hydrated and fresh – I did not have to apply as much moisturiser as I usually do. The mask did not irritate my sensitive skin nor did the mask make my acne prone skin worse – in fact it contributed on making a couple of spots reduce in size by the next morning. It also helped blur out my pore prone areas and helped my t-zone area look less oily.

As you can see it helped my very complex-acne-sensitive-dry-combo-pore-prone face (wow that is a mouth full). I would deffo recommend this face mask – I think It will be suited for all skin types! I would purchase this face mask again.

BTW – It has been a lovely cosy Sunday ! I woke up to snow! YAY! Now in London it does not always snow in the winter and it has not snowed in December in many years now – how exciting for us Londoners!! 😀

Happy Sunday, Thank you for reading

Tea Pigs Matcha Green Tea

We should care about our beauty from the outside but also from the within. I have recently been into my fitness and eating healthier. Matcha green tea has become more popular this year and I wanted to see what the big hype was. Matcha green tea origins from Japan, which does not compare to the normal green tea, as Matcha uses the whole leaf which tends to come in a powder form rather than just a tea bag. In fact,One glass of Matcha is the equivalent of 10 glasses of regular green tea in terms on nutritional and antioxidant value. I have been drinking this for about 6 weeks now and therefore i am able to conduct a honest and fair review.

image

Matcha green tea has lots of health benefits:

  • Full of Antioxidants – much more than berries and spinach
  • Helps weight lost – burns calories and helps boost metabolism.
  • Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
  • Packed full of vitamins, fiber and chlorophyll
  • Relaxes the mind and body
  • Good for detoxing and cleansing
  • Energy booster

Purchase

I brought my Matcha from teapigs.co.uk. Tea Pigs have many types of Matcha to choose from but I opted for the Modern Matcha kit! This included, 30g of Matcha powder, electric wisk and a spoon. I also brought the shot glass as this is a quick method for busy mornings! The Modern matcha kit costs £29, however there was a 20% offer with free delivery when I purchased – Bargain!! In 6 weeks I have used this product almost everyday and I still have a bit left. I reckon I can get perhaps 7-8 weeks out of this 30g jar! Therefore a little goes a long way – pretty good value for money in the long run.

image

Method

It is very easy to make. I put ¾ of the spoon provided in to the shot glass, pour a little of cold water then I use the wisk to ensure all the powder is mixed up and then add more water to the top of the shot glass. (DO NOT – pour the water all the way to the top and then wisk as this will go everywhere). When I have more time, I make this into a hot beverage, method is the same as above but I use a mug and hot water.

Taste

If you do not like regular green tea you will not like the taste of this. I am a regular green tea drinker and therefore I like the taste, it is pretty earthy , some find it bitter but I personally do not find this is the case. However, fear not non-green-tea drinkers, you can mix this with juice or smoothies and therefore the taste will be better. Nevertheless, a shot is quick and easy to drink and it will be over in a second if you really hate it – but hey – think of all the health benefits gained from it.

My Conclusion

I LOVE this stuff! I cant comment on all the health claims, but for the detox/ weight loss factor it is working for me. I am not sure how to say this but this tea “cleanses” my stomach and makes me go “regularly” therefore helping me naturally few pounds lighter and detoxed. I also suffer from severe bloatedness and even though I still get bloated, it is not anything as bad as it used to be. But I am pretty sure all my benefits are due to a combination of now working out and the Matcha! Therefore I highly recommend this.

PS – there are lots of other makes of Matcha Green Tea. I have seen other good quality Matcha for a lower price, therefore I will be trying these out next. I have just purchased the clearspring – Japanese Oraganic Matcha Green Tea Powder (Ceremonial Grade). If any one has tried this, please let me know how you find it 🙂 !

Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation

Hey guys, I know I have been awful with keeping up to date with my blog! I have been crazy busy with several celebrations over the last few months. But I have a few beauty products to share over the next few weeks.

image

Today I will review the Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation in the shade Y385. If anyone is familiar with Make Up Forever foundations, they have actually discarded their original HD line and replaced it with this Ultra HD one. I did use to use the original foundation in the shade 128. This shade was not a perfect shade, it needed more yellow undertones, but it was the nearest I could find to my skin tone at the time. I had to add Make Up Forever yellow colour corrector to this to make it a perfect shade. ( Correctors are amazing in making the perfect shade – I will review this product soon guys!). However with the new Ultra HD line much more colours are released, some are the same colours as the original and some are brand new shades, making that a whopping 40 shades in total. They have really thought hard about everyone’s skin type, as they have categorised the shades in groups – light, medium, tan and dark and then what undertone you are – red or yellow. It can be a little confusing so ask a beauty advisor to colour match you when purchasing this foundation.

I got colour matched to shade Y385 – Olive Beige (this is found in the medium group range), which is a new shade. This was the best match for me out of all the shades. For reference this shade is near to Mac’s NC40-42. It has strong yellow undertones, I found it look slightly too yellow on my skin, I needed to apply powder on top to calm down the ‘yellowness’. I had brought this last summer and it worked well with my tanned skin, unfortunately a little too dark for winter months.

The formula is silky, smooth , a bit more runny compared to the original. It is definitely very hydrating, my skin does not feel dry and does not cling on to dry patches. Therefore I would highly recommend this foundation more so for dry- normal skin girls rather than very oily. I have dry-combination skin and this works fine for me. I would say this foundation is medium coverage and is very natural looking.

It doesn’t look overly yellow in my photos due to the poor lighting, but in reality it is.

What are your thoughts on the new Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation? Do you prefer it over the original?

Rimmel Lasting Finish Colour Rush Lip Balm + swatches + photos

Sometimes, I just love wearing a simple natural kind of lipstick. I was pleasantly surprised when I brought Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Colour Rush Lip Balm in the shade 700 Not An Illusion from Superdrug’s.

IMG_0822

The colour is a very natural rosey pink/brown that should suit most skin tones. The colour is not intense/pigmented, it is quite sheer once applied on my lips but I like that for an everyday look for work.

IMG_0965

I love how the texture is soft, creamy and hydrating therefore very much like a tinted lip balm, it does not accentuate any dry patches/skin on my lips. It makes my lips look healthier even.

IMG_0942

I love the no fuss packaging, the lip balm looks like a crayon, you just twist the bottom for more product. I can apply this without a mirror even! Does this product last all day, sadly no, however when wearing it for 8 hours I only had to top up once after lunch, for a lip balm that is pretty impressive to me!

IMG_0824

Has anyone tried this lip balm out? I definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a simple natural look!

Magic Lipsticks + Swatches + Photos

IMG_9549

In the summer I had visited Morrocco, where I realised a magic lipstick was sold everywhere. At first I did not pay attention to it, as the bright green plastic packaging had put me off. However, after visiting a spa, the consultant showed us this Moroccan magic lipstick in detail. She stated it was a magic lipstick that appeared green but changes pink on your lips. For only 90p it was definitely worth a shot! The shade of pink varies on everyone as the colour works accordingly with the PH levels of your skin.

IMG_9545         IMG_9541

When I first applied this on my lips, it was very smooth and smelt like aloe vera. My lips turned into a nice mid tone pink. I noticed as the day goes on, the colour becomes deeper and brighter, and becomes more of a hot pink! I would say this lipstick is more like a lip balm as it is very nourishing. The colour is not as pigmented as a lipstick but not as opaque as a lip balm, perhaps more like a lip stain. However, as stated above as the day goes on the colour of the lipstick will show more.

    IMG_9546

Not only is this magic for changing from green to pink. It is also magic as this lipstick lasts all day! I can eat, drink, kiss and it does not budge nor transfer!! At the end of the day of course there is a little fading after doing all that, but after 8 hours of wear its definitely much better than any other lipstick out there! I would give this lipstick 5 out of 5 stars. I don’t care if the packaging is worn out and peeling of, it may look cheap, but  it is by far my favorite lipstick. Any girls out there who’s boyfriends hate getting your lipstick all over their faces then you have to try this out and your boyfriends will be a lot happier!!

IMG_8139

Because I loved this Moroccan Magic Lipstick soo much, I wanted to see if I could find something similar in the UK. Also, I wanted to find a red magic lipstick as I usually find red lipsticks are the hardest to maintain without it moving across my face whilst eating! I ordered the Fran Wilson Moodmatcher lipstick.

IMG_9543    IMG_9542

This lipstick comes in a standard plastic black and transparent packaging. Again, this lipstick is suppose to change colour due to your mood. This lipstick smells like lipstick compared to the lip balm feel/scent of the Moroccan version. This lipstick is red and once applied it is a pinky-red lipstick. Again, as the day goes on, this lipstick leans more towards a red. Which is great for those that do not want to wear a true red lipstick.

IMG_9548

This lipstick does have great staying power but not as transfer proof as the Moroccan lipstick. This lipstick takes a good couple of hours to fully dry, as the day goes on I find this lipstick becomes more transfer proof. I would give this lipstick 4 out of 5 stars.

IMG_9361

Both these lipsticks are great, they both have excellent staying power and are transfer proof. Sometimes even after make up remover and washing my face I can still see a slight lip stain on my lips. Shows how much these lipsticks don’t want to budge!! FYI – Both these lipsticks have other colours available which all conduct a different shade of pink.

Availability

Moroccan Magic Lipstick – I had purchased this from Morrocco for 90p – If you visit you will find these everywhere for soo cheap! Otherwise, I have found these available on Ebay for £2.50 – Still a bargain!!

Fran Wilson Moodmatcher Lipstick in Red – I had purchased this from Ebay for £3.99.
